Account discovery & consolidation for wealth advisors
Help clients consolidate the savings they left behind.
Bring former-employer retirement accounts into your planning conversations. Deepen existing client relationships and support client-directed consolidation with account discovery and administrative follow-through from RetirementAnchor.
Retirement savings your clients may have left behind
Former-employer accounts can sit outside the retirement planning conversation for years. Help clients see the fuller picture and act on their own decision to consolidate.

For wealth advisors
Deepen the conversation. Help clients take the next step.
An old retirement account is more than an administrative loose end. It is part of your client's financial life. RetirementAnchor helps you bring those accounts into the conversation and supports the follow-through when a client chooses to consolidate.
Uncover more of the client’s financial picture
Start with the employers and retirement providers a client remembers. Our discovery process helps identify possible plan and provider leads for further verification, including when the client has incomplete information.
A search result is a starting point: account ownership, current balances, and availability must be confirmed with the relevant institution.
Give clients another reason to turn to you
Use a new-client review, a job change, or a retirement planning conversation to ask: “Are there retirement accounts from earlier jobs we haven’t discussed?” Offer a practical next step when the answer is yes.
You retain the advice relationship. The client retains control over their retirement savings.
Add follow-through without owning every task
Your team should not have to piece together every provider contact and administrative next step alone. Add support for gathering account information, recording client authorization, and coordinating the agreed follow-up. Your team stays involved in advice and client decisions.
Start with a defined client situation and agree on who handles each step before beginning an engagement.
Support decisions with a clear record
Keep discovery requests, client authorizations, and follow-through documented. Our process separates possible account leads from verified information and records the client's direction before transfer steps proceed.
Documentation supports your team's records; your firm's advice, supervision, and compliance responsibilities remain with your firm.
An opportunity within the relationships you already have. Help clients address accounts outside the current planning conversation. Where a client chooses an eligible destination your firm serves, consolidation may also bring additional assets into that relationship. Outcomes depend on the client's choice and the institutions involved; asset growth is not guaranteed.
The advisor workflow
From an old account to a clear next step.
A supported process for your client, with distinct steps for discovery, verification, and any transfer they choose to pursue.
01 · Start with discovery
Gather what your client knows
Capture former-employer or provider details and the client's authorization to begin the discovery process. Incomplete information can be a starting point for follow-up.
02 · Verify and decide
Confirm the account. Clarify the options.
Follow up on possible matches and confirm account details through the relevant institution. Your client evaluates their options with the advisors they choose; RetirementAnchor does not recommend a destination.
03 · Coordinate follow-through
Support the client's instruction
When a client elects an eligible transfer, support the required authorization and institutional coordination. Funds move between custodians. Requirements and timing depend on the accounts and providers involved.
Does RetirementAnchor manage investments in workplace accounts?
No. Our role is account discovery and consolidation support. We do not trade, rebalance, allocate investments, or provide ongoing portfolio management within workplace retirement accounts. Investment advice remains with the client's chosen advisor.
Does every account need to move to an IRA?
No. Discovery does not commit a client to a rollover or a destination. The client decides whether to take action. Any transfer depends on account eligibility, the receiving institution's requirements, and the client's authorization.
Can you find every account or guarantee a transfer date?
No. Search coverage and available records vary. A possible plan match does not establish ownership or a current balance. Verification and transfer completion depend on the relevant institutions, their requirements, and the client's circumstances.
How do we explore a partnership?
Tell us about your practice, the clients you serve, and the account discovery or consolidation work you want help with. We will discuss service scope, provider requirements, and a suitable starting workflow before agreeing on next steps.
A client example
“I left it there because moving it seemed like too much hassle.”
During a planning review, a client says they left retirement assets with a former employer because consolidating them felt like too much work. They know the account is still there, but the paperwork, provider contacts, and uncertainty kept them from acting. Here is how the conversation can become a supported next step.
Illustrative scenario · Product screenshots use synthetic demonstration data, not customer results.
01 · DISCOVERY
Start with what the client remembers
Your team: surfaces the account in a client conversation.
Your client: supplies former-employer or provider details and authorizes the discovery work.
RetirementAnchor: helps identify possible plan leads and organize the next inquiry.
02 · VERIFICATION
Confirm what is actually there
RetirementAnchor: supports follow-up with the relevant provider or plan administrator.
Your client: provides the information needed to establish identity and ownership.
Your team: brings confirmed information into the planning conversation. A plan match alone is not a verified account or balance.
03 · AUTHORIZATION
Let the client decide
Your team: helps the client evaluate their options.
Your client: chooses whether to proceed and authorizes the relevant next steps.
RetirementAnchor: records the request and its scope. Permission to locate and assist does not itself authorize a transfer.
04 · FOLLOW-THROUGH
Coordinate the chosen next step
RetirementAnchor: supports agreed paperwork and institutional coordination for an eligible, separately authorized transfer.
The institutions: determine their requirements and execute any movement of funds.
Your team and client: stay involved when decisions or additional information are needed. Timing and completion depend on the case.
Inside the participant experience
From “moving it feels like a hassle” to “I have help with the next step.”
They know they left retirement savings with former employers. They may not know the current balances, and the calls, paperwork, and follow-up have kept moving those plans on the someday list. Here is how a participant can start getting help and see what happens next.
01 / GET STARTED WITHOUT THE OVERWHELM
You know the plan. Start with what you know.
An old workplace plan is still there, but the participant may not have a recent statement or remember how much is in it. Former-employer or provider details give them a starting point for requesting help with the account.
Start with the plan you rememberReview the employer and plan details so the request points to the right place.
Get help with the administrative workBegin a request for support with account verification, paperwork, and provider follow-up.
Bring the balance into the conversationCurrent account details and balances need confirmation with the provider before the participant and their advisor can evaluate next steps.
After authorization, the participant has a saved request, a named contact, and a date for the next update. They can see who is helping and what to expect as the account work gets underway.
Know where the request standsThe confirmation shows the current stage and tells the participant they are all set for now.
Know who to turn toA named contact and next update date give the participant a clear point of contact for follow-up.
Keep the decision in your handsThe participant can review their authorization, add information, or withdraw the request. Any decision to move funds remains theirs.
Screens use synthetic demonstration names and dates. A possible plan match requires account verification. “Authorization saved” records the request; it does not mean funds have moved. Any transfer requires the applicable separate authorization and institutional processing.

Every job change is a chance for the money to move. It almost never does.
A job change is the natural moment for an old account to follow the worker — into their new plan or an IRA. Instead it stalls. And money that doesn't move cleanly is expensive for everyone it touches.
01
Fees quietly pile up
Left-behind accounts sit in the old plan, charged recordkeeper maintenance fees year after year ($40–75 each) — drained from the plan and the participant alike.
02
Small accounts get lost
Small balances drift into lost or abandoned status, leaving plans to fund force-outs or carry missing-participant obligations in perpetuity.
03
Participants miss their options
Most never realize they can move the balance into an IRA or their new plan — so they simply don't, and savings stay stranded.
04
Planning fractures
Savings scattered across old accounts make it nearly impossible to plan — or advise on — retirement as one clear picture.
Nobody ever owned the job of moving the money — so it stalls, and these four costs compound. RetirementAnchor is the solution that owns it: at every job change we direct a worker's savings to where they belong — their new plan or an IRA, on their own affirmative choice — so nothing sits accruing fees, nothing slips into lost-and-found, and their retirement finally lives in one place. The money moves with the participant, and everyone who touches it — savers, plans, recordkeepers, and brokers — comes out ahead.
Who we serve
Led by advisors. Connected across retirement.
We help wealth advisors add retirement consolidation support to their practice, with a connected service for clients, employers, and recordkeepers. TPAs and strategic partners can also bring that support to the people they serve.
For wealth advisors
More time for the relationship. Less time chasing transfers.
A strategic add-on to your practice.
Turn the conversation about old retirement accounts into a supported next step. We help with account discovery, verification, documented consent, and transfer coordination while you focus on your client's financial picture.
RetirementAnchor supports the operational follow-through. We do not recommend destinations or provide investment advice, and we never take custody of funds.
Discuss a partnership built around your client relationships and the institutions that hold their accounts.
Left a job and left a 401(k) or IRA behind? It's still yours — it's just stuck, quietly losing $40–75 a year to maintenance fees. We locate it, verify it's really you, and move it wherever you choose: your new plan or an IRA.
Free for you, always — savers never pay us a cent
No tax hit — direct custodian-to-custodian rollovers aren't taxable events
No paperwork — we prepare everything; you just approve
Your money never touches us — it moves institution-to-institution, and nothing moves without your explicit sign-off
You pay $0 · not a taxable event · funds never pass through us

A two-minute check-in — before there's a problem.
Preventive, not corrective. Low stakes, high peace of mind.
You're contributing, things are fine — and that's exactly the moment to check. RetirementAnchor arrives as an employer benefit: a quick look for anything you left at former jobs, and an easy pull into the plan you're already in. If nothing turns up, great — you're done in two minutes.

Fewer missing participants. Cleaner audits. Zero lift.
Not another vendor to manage — no integration, no invoice, no admin.
Every departed employee who leaves a balance behind becomes your problem: missing-participant searches, force-out mechanics, fiduciary exposure that never expires. We clear it — on the participant's own election, fully audited — and it costs you nothing to run.
≈$50–100 avoided per departed participant — force-out and missing-participant handling you no longer fund
Cleaner audits — every move returns a compliant, verifiable audit trail
Zero ongoing management — no build, no data feed to maintain, nothing out of pocket
A benefit employees notice — consolidation help they'd otherwise pay for
Complementary to your platform — never competitive with it.
We don't recordkeep, we don't custody, and we never steer assets off your platform.
We move money-losing small accounts off your books and participant-elected roll-ins onto them. The destination is always the participant's own choice — we make no recommendation, so there's no disintermediation play here. Technically, it's built to pass your review.

Who it's for
Built for mid-sized and small recordkeepers
For independent, small and mid-sized recordkeepers, RetirementAnchor helps resolve a backlog of small terminated-vested accounts that have been difficult to clear. If small balances pile up on your platform faster than you can move them off, the solution is built for you.
The book we're built around
The large consolidation players are built to chase IRA rollovers, so they skip the small-balance, high-churn SMB and payroll books where accounts actually pile up. Those books over-index on stranded small accounts — and in-plan consolidation matters most exactly there. Our recordkeeper offering supports those underserved books alongside our advisor and TPA partnerships.
Ideal profile
Independent recordkeeper that controls the ledger and can execute the force-out
No safe-harbor IRA pipeline or trust bank to clear the backlog today
Sub-scale or legacy tech — won't build the pipeline in-house
A backlog of $1k–$7k terminated-vested accounts stuck inside the plans

Technology that supports your team
We work alongside recordkeepers and TPAs to streamline account consolidation and reduce manual follow-up. Our managed service complements the relationships and plan administration expertise your team already brings.
A modern, low-cost stack
Modern data connections, AI-assisted operations, and straight-through processing give us a low cost-to-serve — the unlock that finally makes clearing small accounts economical.
Start anywhere, expand from there
Begin with whichever offering fits your book — the backlog sweep, roll-ins that grow the plans you keep, or the automated ops floor. Each stands on its own, with no build and no cost to you, and expands across the relationship as value compounds.
Why the regulated fix fails
The regulated fix was built for the giants. Small recordkeepers pay.
Every job change leaves another account behind — 31.9M abandoned accounts, $2.13T stranded, and $115B lost to dormant-account fees each year. SECURE 2.0's Portability Services Network was meant to solve it. Its structure instead hard-codes the mega recordkeepers' cost advantage — and leaves small and mid-sized RKs stuck.
01
A $7,000 cap
Only tiny force-out balances qualify. The accounts that actually pile up inside your plans are bigger — and stay stuck.
02
A pay-to-play network
PSN integration costs more than most small recordkeepers can justify — so they're shut out of the giants' clearing club.
03
No safe-harbor pipeline
Unlike the megas, small and mid-sized RKs can't cost-effectively force small accounts out to safe-harbor custodians.
04
The cost lands on SMB plans
Stuck servicing money-losing small accounts at $40–75 a year each, small RKs eat the cost or pass it to their SMB plans — and lose on price.
The regulated fix widens the gap: the giants clear small accounts cheaply, while small and mid-sized recordkeepers subsidize the ones they can't — and lose competitiveness. RetirementAnchor closes it. We run a full-service solution that clears those accounts for you and grows the plans you keep — built for the small and mid-sized recordkeeper the incumbents skip.

Four modules on the same engine — one for each way the ops floor eats headcount, led by auto-portability. Sub-$7k balances follow the departing worker to their next plan under SECURE 2.0 §120 — notice-based, opt-out honored, no signatures, no new backlog — while large accounts never leave your book. Priced under the headcount it replaces.

About us
Built by operators from inside the industry
RetirementAnchor grew out of our work advising a small recordkeeper — Mutual of Omaha's Retirement Services business — where we watched cost-to-serve climb as smaller recordkeepers struggled to keep pace with the industry's rising technology table stakes.
We built the solution so they don't have to build it themselves.
